They are called Chicken Soup as chicken soup is used as a home remedy for the sick. They have been edied by motivational speakers Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen(never heard about them). But yes, motivational stories seem to be a good read.I mean human beings look for sources of inspiration and motivation all the time.If you have ever noticed,if you do any good or are successful one question people ask is "who is your source of inspiration?"
Well I have gone through Paulo Coelhos most of the books and I simply admire them. After reading The Alchemist,I remember that I made a time-table and followed it religiously for a week. Can you imagine..?If one fine day an award is being announced for the most indisciplined, most irregular student,I am sure that I will be nominated(nah..I dont claim I will win).So such a student making a routine and following it not for a day but a week??Hmmm..Good work Mr Coelho.Remember Alchemist said to follow your dreams.I did that too.Slept for 10 hours daily just to have dreams.(All I had was nightmares in which I was put behind bars and a bowl of Rasgullas kept out of my reach..!!)
So the point is I will like to read some of these chicken soul books.Whats intresting is that most of these books are directed at specific groups of people like Chicken Soup for The Prisoner's Soul,Chicken Soup for The Mother's Soul..Intresting.
So if you are encountering losses in business,if you have been dumped by your lover,if your son just ran away, just to come back after a week married,if you fought with your best friend,if your maths teacher threw you out of your class for not doing homework and if the new pair of jeans you bought last week doesn't fit you any more, its time to get some motivation. So grab your copy.
Waise on a more serious note,I won't be reading Chicken Soup for the soul to get motivation. If I ever feel low,I go and have a full plate of Chicken tandoori. That puts me in Seventh heaven. Sorry Peta India,I have no plans to turn vegetarian.
